Englewood Public School District’s Thanksgiving Food Drive: A Community Coming Together to Support Local Families
Englewood, NJ – The Englewood Public School District (EPSD) is proud to announce the success of its annual Thanksgiving Food Drive, an initiative led by the Englewood Board of Education in partnership with Stop & Shop of Teaneck, aimed at ensuring that 100 local families have the resources they need for a warm and meaningful holiday meal. This year’s effort is aimed at ensuring that 100 local families have the resources they need for a warm and meaningful holiday meal, with food distribution scheduled for November 25, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM. This remarkable initiative exemplifies the strength of our community and its unwavering dedication to supporting those in need.
Community Partners: Supporting the Cause
The food drive received generous support from local businesses, organizations, and community members, including:
· Food Pantry Sponsor: Stop & Shop of Teaneck
· Collection Sites: ShopRite of Englewood, Treeco Management, Englewood Police Department, Englewood Fire Department, Shirvan Family Live Well Center (Englewood Health), and Pinspiration Englewood
In addition, the Englewood Neighborhood Pantry shared essential nonperishable items, and the Never Alone Resource Center donated fresh produce and turkeys. Pomptonian Food Service also provided critical assistance by refrigerating perishable donations.
Student Volunteers: Making an Impact
This year, a record-breaking 46 students from Dwight Morrow High School volunteered their time to assist with collection, sorting, and distribution efforts. Each student will earn community service hours, gaining meaningful experience while contributing to their community.
Community Contributions: A Collective Effort
Faculty, staff, parents, and friends of EPSD joined together to personally drop off food donations at collection sites. Contributions included turkeys, hams, canned goods, pasta, and grocery store gift cards, ensuring a wide array of items for families in need.
A Call to Action Led by the Englewood Board of Education and Stop & Shop
The Thanksgiving Food Drive began as a heartfelt initiative spearheaded by the Englewood Board of Education in partnership with Stop & Shop, the campaign’s generous Food Pantry Sponsor. Together, they rallied the Englewood Public School District (EPSD) community around a shared mission: to ensure no family goes without a warm and meaningful holiday meal. Their inspiring message resonated throughout the community, igniting a spirit of collective action and generosity that embodies the true essence of the holiday season.
