ENGLEWOOD, New Jersey [July 6, 2024] – The sudden and tragic death of our beloved Englewood Public School District principal, Dr. Daniela Small-Bailey, has left the entire community in shock and deep sorrow. This loss is profoundly felt by teachers, students, parents, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with such a dedicated and committed leader. In response to this heartbreaking event, grief counselors will be available on all district campuses starting Monday, July 8th, to provide support and comfort to teachers and students during this incredibly challenging time.
Dr. Small-Bailey's unwavering commitment to education, passion for fostering a nurturing and inclusive environment, and genuine care for each student made a lasting impact on our schools in Englewood. Dr. Small-Bailey’s legacy of humor, kindness, leadership, and dedication will always be remembered and cherished.
To honor and remember our dear principal, a candlelight vigil will be held on Wednesday, July 10th, from 6 to 8 p.m. in front of Grieco Elementary School. This gathering will provide an opportunity for the community to come together, share memories, and offer support to one another. It is a time to reflect on the positive influence Dr. Small-Bailey had on our lives and to find solace in the shared grief of our school family.
We encourage everyone to attend the vigil and to lean on the available counseling resources as we navigate through this period of mourning. Our thoughts and prayers are with Dr. Small-Bailey's family, friends, and all who are grieving this tremendous loss. Together, as a community, we will support each other and honor the incredible legacy left behind by Dr. Daniela Small-Bailey.
