ENGLEWOOD, New Jersey [July 5, 2024]– It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Dr. Daniela Small-Bailey, a cherished member of our school community.
Dr. Small-Bailey and her beloved son, Sidanii Bell, tragically lost their lives in a head-on collision near Dullstroom, South Africa, on July 4th. They had traveled together from New Jersey to South Africa to visit his two children, who were living there.
Dr. Small-Bailey has been a pillar of the Englewood Public Schools community, dedicating nearly two decades of her life to the betterment of our district. Her career as a school administrator was marked by her vibrant and larger-than-life personality, which brought boundless energy and a relentless drive to every role she undertook.
From her beginnings as an assistant principal to her most recent position as the esteemed principal of Dr. John Grieco Elementary School, Dr. Small-Bailey’s influence was felt throughout various buildings across the district. Her dynamic personality and unwavering commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on countless students, staff, and families.
She had a unique ability to connect with people on a profound level, inspiring those around her to reach their fullest potential. Dr. Small-Bailey’s enthusiasm for education was infectious, her presence in a room was electrifying, and her dedication to fostering a nurturing and inclusive school environment was unparalleled. Her legacy is one of tireless devotion, transformative impact, and a spirit that will continue to inspire us all.
