Maroon Tribune Writing Contest

In honor of the first print issue of the new school year, The Maroon Tribune will be

hosting a creative writing contest for publication and prizes.

Submit your best original short story or poem on the theme “Beginnings” by January 3

for a chance to win a $25 Amazon gift card and publication in The Maroon Tribune.

Rules:

Any DMHS/A@E student can enter the contest.

Work should not be previously published.

Work must be created by the student entering the contest.

Submissions:

For short stories: word count limit of 4000 words.

For poetry: line limit of 50 lines.

You may submit one story and one poem for the contest.

Submit your entry as a Word doc or Google doc with your name and school email on a

cover page.

Do NOT include your name or email on the same page as the story or poem submission.

Use the subject line: January Issue Contest: [Your Name] [Story or Poem]

Attach your entry to the email.

Deadline for entry is January 3, 2025.

Winners will be announced in January.

Prizes

First place short story: $25 Amazon gift card and publication in The Maroon Tribune.

First place poem: $25 Amazon gift card and publication in The Maroon Tribune.

Second and third place: publication in The Maroon Tribune.

All entries will be considered for publication in future issues this school year.
