Englewood Public School District Empowers Student Athletes with ACT! Certification Workshop on Mental Health Awareness
Englewood, NJ – October 8, 2024 – On Monday, October 7, 2024, the Englewood Public School District proudly hosted an ACT! Certification workshop for 40 student-athlete 'influencers', empowering them to recognize and address mental health challenges. The event, held in partnership with the US Center for Mental Health and Sport and funded by the NY Jets, equipped participants with essential skills and resources to support themselves and their peers.
The workshop focused on identifying warning signs of mental health challenges and provided athletes with crucial communication strategies to reach out for help when needed. These young leaders are now better prepared to foster a supportive and understanding environment within their teams and the broader school community.
"We are proud to be one of only ten high schools in New Jersey selected for this invaluable program," said Joseph Armental, Athletic Director for the district. "This initiative not only enhances our student athletes' well-being but also reinforces our commitment to promoting mental health awareness in our schools."
This collaborative effort underscores the importance of mental health in sports and the critical role that student athletes play in supporting their peers. The Englewood Public School District is dedicated to continuing its mission of providing resources and support to enhance the mental health of all students.
