On Thursday, October 6, 2022, the Board of Education approved the goals and vision statement for the 2022-2023 school year.
2022-2023 Core Goals
Goal 1: Curriculum Planning Development and Instructional Leadership
Provide a continuously challenging and rigorous academic curriculum for all students with teaching techniques and instructional resources to maximize student achievement.
Goal 2: Leadership & District Culture
The district will provide leadership in establishing a climate that empowers students, parents and staff and develops a shared vision, helps shape school culture and climate, and understands multi-cultural and ethnic differences.
Goal 3: Communications & Community Relations
The district will establish and maintain effective, responsive, two-way communication with students, staff, parents, and the community, which includes meaningful partnerships with community leaders, organizations, and entities that enrich the student experience.
Goal 4: Organizational Management
Financial and Capital Resources will be effectively allocated after careful analysis of student data to align academic need to ensure the effective of resources.
Goal 5: School Safety and Security
Provide a secure environment in which the district establishes procedures and resources to promote a safe learning environment, which is conducive to achieving the academic and social-emotional goals of all students.
ENGLEWOOD PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT VISION STATEMENT
ENGLEWOOD BOARD OF EDUCATION is committed to increase student achievement by working to ensure that each student is at or above grade level throughout the district by providing professional staff with the knowledge, skills, resources, and freedom necessary for highly effective delivery of instruction and services and by utilizing valid data to measure student progress by determining the academic distance traveled and social emotional growth of each student by providing tools promoting positive attitude behaviors and recognizing diversity so that they see the potential in each student to reach high levels of achievement.
2022-2023 FOCUS GOALS
Focus Goal #1: Develop, implement, promote and monitor an action plan that rebrands the District by strengthening and promoting our innovative programs that helps students succeed.
Focus Goal #2: Plan, prepare and coordinate the necessary components for a full NJQSAC (New Jersey Quality Single Accountability Continuum) review and an effective district rating in areas of Instruction &Program, Fiscal, Governance, Operations, and Personnel.
Focus Goal #3: Develop and implement a proactive plan to attract and retain highly qualified and certified professionals for all positions.
Focus Goal #4: Research, develop, and implement a discipline program aligned to the principles of PBIS, Restorative Justice, unconscious bias, and create Culturally Responsive Classrooms.
Focus Goal #5: All staff and students shall be trained and be made aware of all security protocols and procedures to prevent and respond to emergency situations.
Focus Goal #6: The number of students overall and for each subgroup measured for accountability achieving proficiency on Grades 3-8 ELA, Math and Science state assessments will increase as follows:
a. 20% of students who scored at Level 1 on the 2021-22 assessments will improve to Levels 2, 3, and 4 in the 2022-23 school year.
b. 20% of students who scored at Level 2 on the 2021-22 assessments will improve to Levels 3 and 4 in the 2022-23 school year.
c. Increase the high school graduation rate by 3% to 5% above the graduation rate from the 2021-22 school year.
d. Administration will report to the Board Student Academic Progress in Pre-K through Grade 2.
