ENGLEWOOD, NJ – The young minds in Ms. Gilroy’s fourth-grade class recently took their learning beyond the classroom and into orbit—literally! Through their heartfelt and creative letters, students reached out to NASA astronaut Sunita Williams, who is currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS). Their efforts were rewarded with a special response from NASA, emphasizing the importance of literacy, communication, and curiosity about space exploration.
As a token of appreciation, NASA sent a signed photograph to the class, a memento that will surely inspire these future scientists, engineers, and space explorers. The students' enthusiasm and engagement showcase the power of writing as a tool for connection, even beyond our planet.
Students will continue writing to Astronauts Sunita Williams and Barry "Butch" Wilmore as they complete their mission and prepare for their return to Earth. Their letters serve as a reminder that learning is limitless, and curiosity can take you to new heights—sometimes even beyond the stratosphere!
Ms. Gilroy’s class will receive the original signed photo on Monday, a tangible reminder that their voices were heard among the stars.
Keep reaching for the stars, young explorers and continue to make our school community proud! 🚀🌍✨
