NOTICE
SCHOOL BOARD VACANCY
The City of Englewood Board of Education has an open seat and is seeking candidates to fill the vacancy through December 2024. The Board will be holding interviews during the Wednesday, January 10, 2024 meeting (7:00 p.m.).
To become a member of a local board of education in New Jersey, you must:
- Be able to read and write,
and - Hold U.S. citizenship and one (1) year’s residency in the school district,
and - Be registered to vote in the district before filing the letter of interest,
and - Have no interest in any contract with, or claim against the board,
and - Not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body,
and - Not simultaneously hold two elective offices,
and - Not be disqualified from membership for the conviction of certain crimes. (Within 30 days of election or appointment to the board, a member must undergo a criminal history background investigation through the state Department of Education)
After the interview process, the Board is expected to appoint a candidate to the vacated seat at the Wednesday, January 10, 2024 meeting (7:00 p.m.).
